“Why I Froze My Eggs”, Tiwa Savage Reveals
Nigerian Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage has made a deeply personal revelation that has left fans talking. In an emotional and candid conversation with media personality Zeze Mills, the award-winning singer disclosed that she has frozen her eggs — a decision she calls one of the most important steps in her life.
At 42, Tiwa says she took the step as a precautionary measure for the future, ensuring she has the option to expand her family if she chooses. The “Somebody’s Son” crooner, who welcomed her first and only child in 2015 at age 34 with her ex-husband Teebillz, admitted she now wishes she had frozen her eggs earlier.
“Having my first child in my 30s was beautiful because I was more financially and emotionally stable,” she said. “One advice I will give to women in their 30s is, whether you want to have children or not, freeze your eggs.”
Tiwa explained that egg freezing is not just for women who are ready to start a family but also for those who want to take control of their fertility. She emphasized that life is unpredictable — relationships, careers, and health can all affect the timing of motherhood.

The superstar revealed that although she has no immediate plans for more children, she went ahead with the procedure as insurance against the biological clock.
“I don’t know if I want more kids, but in case I do, I’ve done that just to have that option. You could wake up at 36 and your egg reserve is done. Then, that’s when you decide you want to have kids, and it might be too late. So, I’m really a big advocate for egg freezing now.”
Her words come as a wake-up call for many women in their 30s, especially in Africa, where discussions about fertility preservation are still considered taboo.
