Mariya Lagbaja, widow of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has poured out her heart in an emotional tribute to her husband, who passed away on November 5. She shared how deeply he impacted her life and the lives of their children, describing him as a loving, devoted, and God-fearing man.

According to the Daily Post Report, Mariya recalled how their love story began on December 29, 2007, and how their bond grew over the years. She described him as her strength, her joy, and her guiding force. “You brought so much beauty and joy to my life. I promised to love you forever,” she said.

She expressed her pain over his death, which cut short their “lifelong fairytale.” Mariya said Lagbaja was not only a dedicated husband but also a spiritual leader at home. He inspired her and their children to love and serve God. She said his faith gave her hope that he is now “dancing joyfully in heaven.”

Despite his demanding job, Lagbaja was a caring father who made time for his children. Mariya fondly recalled him helping with their homework, solving problems, or simply playing with them. “To us, you are our hero, and you will never be forgotten,” she added.

Her tribute ended with a heartfelt farewell to her husband, whom she described as her leader, friend, and hero. “Who will call me ‘The Boss’? Who will give me that morning hug? Sleep on, my love, until we meet again,” she said.

Mariya vowed to keep his memory alive, cherishing the moments they shared and the legacy he left behind.
