Oyebanji Breaks The Jinx, Makes History As First Governor To Be Re-Elected In Ekiti (the results)

58-year-old Governor Abíọ́dún Àbáyọ̀mí Oyèbánjí aka Biodun Oyebanji has broken the “Ekiti jinx”.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate has been re-elected for a consecutive 2nd term as Governor of the state, after being declared winner of the governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The final results of the election were announced Sunday 21 June 2026 in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

Oyebanji won a majority of votes cast across all the 16 local government areas of the state. He polled a total of 319,224 votes to defeat his closest rival, Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had 40,543 votes.

Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Oluwadare Bejide, came third with a total 12,872 votes.
