A disturbing report has emerged regarding Adeleye Ayomide, who allegedly murdered Christiannah Idowu, a 300-level Public Administration student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

According to accounts shared by Letter to Jack, an X influencer who first revealed the crime, Christiannah Idowu was declared missing on August 19, 2024, after her parents were contacted by her abductors using Christiannah’s WhatsApp line.

The abductor, later identified as Adeleye Ayomide, a 200-level student of Philosophy at Olabisi Onabanjo University, demanded N1.5 million as ransom. It took three days for Christiannah’s parents to raise N350,000, which was then transferred to an account provided by Ayomide. A day later, on August 23, Ayomide cut off all communications.

Although the authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the alleged murder, Jack disclosed that Ayomide was tracked down to his residence in Ikorodu, Lagos, where he was arrested. He later confessed to murdering Christiannah and burning her body in their house.

Jack also revealed that Ayomide confessed to having murdered two other people: his ex-girlfriend in 2018 and his biological sister in 2020.

As investigations continue to uncover the motives behind this series of killings, Neusroom analyzed Ayomide’s social media footprint for insight into the life he led and what could have motivated these crimes.

Who is Adeleye Ayomide?

Based on his digital footprint, Ayomide is a student of Philosophy at Olabisi Onabanjo University who is highly active on social media, particularly on X.

While his feed on X is filled with retweets and quotes, his social media lifestyle paints a picture of someone fixated on fast money and a desire to make it big at a young age.

In his pinned post on X, dated December 27, 2023, just three days before the new year, Ayomide wrote:

“Do or do not, there is no try.” – 2024

The quote, from Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980), emphasizes commitment and determination. Could Ayomide have marked 2024 as the year he would achieve his goals?

A Manchester City fan, Ayomide wrote on June 4:

“Na man wey no get money dey introduce himself to his wife.”

Two days prior, he had shared a motivational post stating that to “make it in life, you need audacity.”

“Life go wan whine you, you gats look am in the face tell am say e dey crazy.”

In between reposting Wizkid’s posts, Ayomide repeatedly shared posts from Shola, a self-acclaimed life coach who teaches young men how to become “better men.”

Shola’s posts about money, such as “I am touching a lot of money this month; I see the way most of you treat people without money, reason I work very hard so I wouldn’t find myself in such position; Our pockets will never run dry,” were frequently reposted by Ayomide.

His quest to make it big at a young age became more evident over time.

On April 21, he wrote: “I want to be a billionaire before 33. So help me God.”

While Neusroom cannot immediately determine Ayomide’s exact age, careful examination of his pictures, particularly on Instagram, suggests that he might be in his early or mid-twenties.

On his Instagram bio, he wrote: “Life is too short to be updating Instagram bios.”

Of the 19 posts between December 2021 and March 2024, his Instagram content primarily features pictures of himself with self-motivating captions like “Don’t be so hard on yourself. Wake up, workout, look hot,” and “The secret to getting ahead is getting started.”

It has become a popular saying not to judge people by their tweets. However, Ayomide’s tweets, like wanting to become a billionaire before 33, though ambitious, might have led him down a dangerous path in his pursuit of wealth acquisition.

While Neusroom awaits responses to inquiries made to the Nigerian Police Force divisions in Abeokuta and Lagos, Nigerians commenting on Ayomide’s social media posts are inferring that his quest for early success might have been the driving motive behind the crimes.
