“I Was Earning £5000 Monthly In UK But Ended Up Having £200 Left”, JJC Skillz

JJC Skillz has described the financial and emotional exhaustion of living in the UK as a primary motivator for his permanent move back to Nigeria in 2011. He painted a stark picture of the UK “rat race,” where he was earning a significant income but was left with almost nothing after paying bills, a cycle that made him feel stagnant.

During his “CreativiTEA” interview, he also explained that his other major reason for staying in the UK for so long was his children. He was determined to remain a present father in their lives and only felt free to leave once they were older and in secondary school.

JJC Skillz said: “In 2011, finally I came. I remember at that time I was frustrated because in England, you literally work all day and all night to just pay bills. Every month, I was making, let’s say £5,000, and at the end of the month, I would only end up with like £200. You don’t have anything. I couldn’t leave England because I had little babies. I was not interested in leaving. But by 2011, they were all grown, in secondary school. They knew who their father was. At that time, I decided to take that leap of faith because I was tired of not moving past a certain level.”
