Moment Adamawa REC Controversially Declared Binani As The Winner (video)

Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the resident electoral commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Adamawa, has stoked controversy in the state’s governorship election.

Around 9am on Sunday morning, the INEC REC announced Aisha ‘Binani’ Dahiru, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the election

Binani allegedly become the first female Governor in the history of Nigeria’s democracy.

Earlier, results from 10 out of the 20 local government areas had been declared while the exercise was adjourned till 11am.

However, Ari announced the final result an hour before the scheduled time.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was leading before the pronouncement was made.

Some PDP supporters in the hall protested the announcement of Binani as the winner by the INEC REC.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner had made the announcement against the returning officer.
