It was a wedding of the year over the weekend and the ancient city of Kano was practically shut down. Kano state played host to political bigwigs and top shots in the business world on Saturday as the children of two powerful families wed in spectacular style.

The daughter of Abdullahi Ganduje, Kano state governor, got hitched to the son of Abiola Ajimobi, Oyo state governor. It was a gathering of who is who in Nigeria.

President Buhari flew in with the presidential and was welcomed by a tumultuous crowd. Senate President Bukola Saraki, wife of the Vice President Dolapo Osibajo were there, while Emir of Kano Suleiman Lamido was not left out.

Many Governors were there to support their own: Governors Ganduje and Ajimobi.
