See Aretha Franklin’s Befitting Royalty Funeral In Detroit (pics)

Aretha Franklin, a musical icon, civil rights activist and a great influence to her generation and many younger generation  died on August 16 at the age of 76. She left an indelible footprint on the sands of time. Expectedly the funeral was a gathering of world leaders like former US President Bill Clinton, former Attoney General Eric Holder, actress Cicely Tyson, the Rev Al Sharpton, music legends like producer Clive Davis, Smokey Robinson, Chaka khan, Stevie Wonder,  younger generation like Ariana Grande & Faith Hill.

‘I’ve been watching the celebration of your life from everywhere and I’ve been doing interviews from from everywhere all over the world’, Robinson says in his send off to Franklin who had been her long time friend.

‘Nothing sounded to me than the way my grandma sings. Her vioce made you feel something’, says Victorie Franklin, her granddaughter. ‘You felt every word, every note,every emotion in the songs she sang. Her voice brought peace’

Throngs of people hoping to catch a final glimpse of the star lined the streets around the site of the day long service, which began Friday morning and continued well into the early evening.

The funeral service takes place at the Detroit’s Greater Grace Temple, which is undoubtedly fit for royalty. She was laid in a glistening golden casket during a day long service on Friday.
